Out in our parking lot... Dad and Son skating with our 5 dollar DI rail. We went to DI to look for some necessities and ended up with this rail. I think McKay has really good form :) If you look closely, Brenan has his tongue out. Such concentration.
Don't worry, although this next picture may look like a direct result of the previous one, it isn't. Nor did McKay get into my lipstick stash (wait, what lipstick stash?) and no, we're not planning on dressing him as Hitler for Halloween. Last Saturday was a big day for me. I officially joined the true mother's club - I unintentionally injured my child. We were walking through the cougar eat on campus to get to the mother's lounge in the Wilk when McKay slipped out the bottom of the stroller, hit feet first, and then landed on his face on the hard floor. I basically fell to pieces right there on the spot. His lip started bleeding and he got a dark line across the bridge of his nose which you can still see in this picture. I thought for sure we had broken his nose or something. It was awful. We ended up calling the paramedics to make sure he was okay, and it turns out nothing serious came of it. What a huge blessing. He was such a tough little boy, though. Within 20 minutes he was back to smiling at us again, with a swollen, bloody lip. My heart grew many sizes that day - we love this little boy so much and I never want to see him hurt again.
McKay wearing cousin Beckett's BYU hat. The Roberts family flew out to Provo for the BYU game last Saturday and stayed with us. It was such a blast! We loved having sweet Beckett Boy and Little Wil around, and of course Linday and Nathan, too. I loved when Beckett would randomly start chanting B-Y-U, or start the rah-rah-rah cheer so well known to BYU fans. He is already such a die-hard fan, at 2 years old!
Too much partying will do this to a person - McKay passed out on my bed. It looks like he is face down, but his face is slightly turned and yes, he is breathing. I checked.

Sunday dinner ... we enjoyed the company of Rachell and Tim Enger and Forrest and Elin Roberts, Nathan's siblings and in-laws. We ate delicious Chicken Parmesan which was the first time I'd made it. Good eats and good company!
I have no words for this picture, other than I really like it. You can make up your own funny caption for it if you want :)
Sweet Beckett boy driving his mini cooper (which he enunciates very well) on McKay. McKay was loving the attention. Beckett is so soft with baby McKay and baby Wil, such a good older brother and cousin! I love how sweet their hands are in this picture.

All tuckered out on Momma's lap.
Uncle Dillon and baby Wil skyping with Babu and Sho Sho.
McKay trying out his new Bumbo. Doesn't he look like he's the king of this palace, contemplating the mysteries of life. Or maybe he's getting a early start on being a star-treck fanatic with that "live long and prosper" hand sign.
Check out the jowls on Wil! He is such a little chunkers! McKay is gettin up there, too. We had his 4 month appointment on Monday. He is 16 lbs 1.5 oz (75th percentile) and 26.75 inches (95th percentile). He is a lengthy baby for sure!

Brenan: So, I have a confession to make.
Beth: Oh yeah?
Brenan: It's pretty embarrassing... I googled the lyrics of a song on the radio that I liked to see who it was by -- it was Miley Cyrus again.
Beth: That's twice in a row now, I know what album I'm getting you for Christmas.

Since Micah and Andrea requested... here is the card Brenan so skillfully crafted for me. He used the stamp set and paper scraps that were already sitting on the craft desk (so he claims..) to make this stunning card. Pretty good eh?? The little chubbiness and me.. note the flowers, Andrea. They are so beautiful and they're still going strong almost a week later!

Ok, it's true. I admit. I love funfetti cake. I probably should grow up a little and prefer more sophisticated desserts like Ambrosia Chocolate Torte or Chocolate Almond Decadence Cake (ok I just googled "fancy desserts" to find some.. um they look divine though). Anyway, back to funfetti... it really is delicious although perhaps a bit juvenile, and the sprinkle icing makes me happy! Thanks to Aunt Pat for supplying the 2 sparklers c/o Grandma Klain's b-day bash in June. We only lit two, after remembering that 18 sparklers for Dallin's birthday set off the smoke alarms at the Leavitt's. We all just sat around watching Andrea wave her arms to make it stop beeping.. sorry we didn't jump up to help you sooner, Andrea. Ha.

The Bolyards got a hold of our camera -- found some nice surprises on it today! Love these two :)

Such a big boy! oh, and McKay is too! Ha, our good friend Darren Mann. I think Brenan and him met in a line at BYU. That's where Brenan meets most of his best friends these days.
I'm thinking of opening my own franchise of Color-Me-Mine, where you paint ceramics to your liking, just so I could paint whenever I want. It was SO MUCH FUN and McKay did great the whole time we were there.. this is the finished product.

So our new favorite thing to do around the Klain home is poke McKay's head out of random places and see when the other person notices him. This is McKay peeking at me from the staircase.
McKay is always so excited when Daddy gets home - he likes to watching him drive up and park. This is Brenan's welcome home face.
Love you, Dad!

I'm always happier after I look at this picture. Now you are too.

So it is my goal to blog at least once a week. I'm on a roll - 2 weeks in a row! Hopefully I can keep this up. I've decided that to scrapbook my life would take entirely too much time since I take a billion pictures. I am going to use this blog as more of a scrapbook/journal - to document pictures and the happenings of our life. Sorry if I get a little boring or too personal, but I eventually want to book this blog and I want as much in it as I can post about. I hope that you don't feel obligated to read every word, either. I won't feel bad if you just get on to look at pictures. They're the most exciting part of any blog, let's be honest.

This week was a great week. I can't believe Brenan has finished 2 weeks of school already! He is loving his classes as he is taking a lot of electives - so they are the classes he is most interested in and wants to learn from. It was a hot week here in Provo - for September anyway. One day this week I took McKay out for a walk to stroll around our new neighborhood, you know, check out the scenery. There is a pretty significant hill just to the east of our townhouse and I decided to hike up it (the most strenuous activity I've done since I found out I was pregnant.. sad I know). So I get to the top of the hill pretty much breathless. It had been about 20 minutes that McKay had been in his car seat in the stroller by this time, which is about his limit. Sure enough he's screaming and I'm sure the whole neighborhood thinks I'm a bad mom now, so I pull him out and carry him. By now I'm headed back down the hill, McKay in one hand, hanging onto a run-away stroller in the other hand (steep hill). It's blazing hot and suddenly we get attacked by these nasty little aphids, like thousands of them. So I'm trying to shield McKay from the onslaught of bugs, keep the stroller from crashing down the hill, and sooth McKay so we don't attract more attention than I already was. Needless to say, I probably won't head back up that hill for a while.

Among other things, I had a fantastic birthday yesterday. Brenan made it extra special. On Friday night I went on a much needed shopping spree - which has never felt so good. This old body just ain't the same. I got a new outfit that Brenan helped me choose. He is quite the fashion consultant, surprisingly enough, although yesterday he tried wearing his black DC shirt with neon writing with his camo shorts. Yikes babe. But truly he has some serious steeze (aka style for anyone not well acquainted with Brenan's unique vocab). Anyway, back to the birthday - so yesterday I got to sleep in, woke up to Brenan handing me a homemade card he had just finished scrapbooking (if anyone is doubting Brenan's manliness, please! Real men know how to scrapbook cards for their wives) had visits from Meredith and Kelsey in the morning, which was a fabulous start to my day. I had beautiful flowers delivered to my door from the Leavitts and they look beautiful in my kitchen! Then Christy and Jackie stopped by and brought lunch for us, which was delish! Christy made an incredible salad which Brenan likes and says I can make again. Brenan is not a fan of pasta salads which I LOVE, so I never make them, but this coleslaw chicken salad is a winner. Fab. I just love Christy and Jackie, so glad I live so close to them. I have some incredible friends. Thanks to all my friends and family who took time to stop by or call or text. Love you all. We then watched the cougs kill Tulane and afterwards went to Color Me Mine and we painted a plate together. It was so fun and felt so good to be doing something artsy. McKay did so great the whole time and didn't fuss at all while we were there. Amazing. We stopped by Kneaders on the way home and picked up delicious sandwiches. To top the day off, McKay even gave me a present.. he slept from 1am - 6am!!!! Which means I got 5 straight hours of sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can live with that. It was a blessing from heaven. Brenan took him at 6 and I went back to sleep until 8. Sleep is a precious gift these days. Basically, yesterday rocked.

This week McKay has started growling, constantly. It is the cutest thing ever.. he growled all through Sunday school today which was a get-to-know-the-newbies-in-the-ward meeting. He is a precious boy and it's so fun to watch him grow and learn such important skills as growling.

Here's McKay getting an early start on sick tricks. Of course he is rocking one of his three pairs of skate shoes, in this case, Etnies from Auntie Andrea and Uncle Troy. Thanks guys!

He's a fast learner and can already manual.

... these are a few of my favorite things

hi friends and family! Here are a few of our favorite things as of late (in no particular order):

1. We moved to a beautiful 3 bedroom townhouse in South Provo. It is in a quiet neighborhood (I have a totally new appreciation for quiet streets after living on State street). We have STORAGE SPACE!! So we can finally consolidate our christmas decor (and other such items that Brenan feels should be thrown out but then appreciates them during the holiday season) stored at friends houses into one place. Much thanks goes out to our good friends the Palmers and Hartleys.

2. I went to a really sketchy grocery store called Allens on 3rd South in provo on Friday night at like 9:30pm to buy baking necesities to make bread yesterday morning. If anyone knows that grocery store, you'll understand why I was a little afraid to get out of the car - but it's just so close! Anyway, whilst shopping for flour, eggs, etc. I came across the cracker isle and Triscuits were on sale 3/$5!!! I have been seriously addicted to these things since I had McKay. Weird. On the back of the box it says, "A tasty romance awaits" (referring to the crackers of course). Needless to say I am in love and I bought a number of boxes :)

3. Had a long, enjoyable vacation to the great North. It was so green for this time of year! Loved spending time with family, sun tanning on my parents' south porch, taking long naps, looking at the spactacular heavens at night on the farm etc. Brenan and I didn't love the food poisoning so much, but everything else was marvellous.

Classic picture of Wil and McKay. McKay is screaming, Wil is having a tough time holding that noggin up.
Love the chubby belly hanging out.

So much personality in this picture: Beckett is cheesing, Wil just looks as solid and stout as a softball player, McKay is wiggling as usual. I love these three boy cousins. It will be fun to see them grow up together.
Beckett's picked up a thing or two about style on the streets of Beverly Hills.

Stop pinching him Dallin!
King Tut son
So much love from Babu and Sho Sho (Swahili for Grandpa and Grandma)

4. Having a great white warrior for a brother in law:

5.I don't have to wait until next spring for the next season of So You Think You Can Dance.. It starts now!!! SYTYCD got me through those first few hard weeks with a fussy baby. I lived for Wednesday nights!

6. McKay's face getting more and more adorable!! He gives so many smiles, sometimes half, sometimes whole. I'm pretty sure he has a dimple on his right cheek, just like cousin Wil. The sleeping though the night thing is taking it's sweet time, but after seeing twins blessed in church today, I thank my lucky stars I only have one baby to care for right now!

look at that jolly little face

7. Having a sibling around to spoil. It is so fun having Dill back in Provo. He is such a sweetheart and I love that he wants to come visit us all the time, even though it may be more for the serious perks in the food and laudry departments.

8. My stubborn husband. Sometimes he will absolutely refuse to let me stay up with McKay and sends me to bed, even with all my protesting. He is fantastic. He is currently balancing a full semester, work at Millenniata, VP of BYU Marketing association, BYU business plan competition, working on a new business idea of his own, husband, father, church. He is so talented and I never feel like family is last on his list. He always has his priorities straight.

9. The slogan on this truck. Only in Alberta, and only at a mud-bogging event (it says: Eat Beef Ya Boggers. Love it)

10. Adorable Hall family pictures from Peekaboo Photography and Klain family pictures from the very talented Vintage Spice Photgraphy (aka Lindsday Roberts). I can't wait to print some off and put them up around the house.

I've never seen my parents so happy

Sweet boy on his blessing day, July 5th, 2009.
