The 'wayermeyon'
(Yes, he can say his 't's and 'l's but he chooses not to when saying the word watermelon. And no, he didn't eat the whole thing, though I'm sure he would have liked to.)
The rice cereal mess...
in McKay's defense, he was just trying to help make Ev's rice cereal. He made a pretty good shot in the bowl the first time. Should have stopped there :)
The innocent face..
and... here is our future missionary, Elder Klain. Actually, two of them.

more of the Yago.

Brenan and I were just talking about a business that was 'not for profit.' McKay was listening at the table while eating his breakfast. Pretty soon he calls out 'follow the prophet!'

While listening to a musical number in church sung by 3 women, McKay points to the pulpit and asks me, "Who's that little boy?" Everyone is a 'little boy.'

One morning last week I walked into McKay's room since he was awake to bring him down for breakfast (I think he's scared of leaving his room on his own - and I'm not complaining about it!) When I walked in, he was sitting on his big boy bed with his blue blankie. I said "Mr. Miyagi!" and he responded "Snowboard!"

Lately when we call McKay by his name or any nickname we have for him he responds, "I'm not McKay! I'm Brenan Klain for the ward!" Explanation is that Brenan has to make a lot of phone calls for his calling and he always says, "Hi, this is Brenan Klain from the ward." Apparently McKay picked up on that one. Ha.

At cousin Nixon's baby blessing, Brenan was sitting with McKay and pointing to all the women (aunties, Grandma, Mommy) and asking, "Who's that special lady?" to which McKay would respond with the right name. A few minutes later McKay pointed to my sister-in-law's mother in law (if that makes sense) who McKay doesn't know very well and asked, "Who's that special lady?!"

McKay quotes

9/18/2011
Me: holding Evalyn on my hip in the kitchen while getting McKay some breakfast. (Evalyn is not making a sound.)
McKay: waiting for breakfast at the counter, head cocked to one side resting on his right fist. "Sooooo.... what's your deal, Evalyn?"

Me: Are you right handed or left handed?
McKay: Right (pointing his right index finger at me).
Me: Are you ambidextrous?
McKay: No. I'm 2!

While in Sacrament meeting today, Brenan was showing pictures to McKay in the Gospel Art Book. He was showing him Emma and Joseph Smith.
Brenan: Emma was Joseph's wife, just like Mommy is my wife.
McKay (after thinking for a minute): MY wife is Evalyn!

Randomly, out of the blue McKay says to Brenan "You're my daddy.... and you're my friend." So sweet. Golden parenting moment.

This is how McKay sings the song, I hope they call me on a mission: "I hope they call me on a missionary."

Just went on a walk, passed a back-hoe digging for a new home. McKay loves to point out the tractors. Today we were talking about the different sizes of tractors and McKay says, "I was born on a tractor." I certainly don't recall that event. Ha, no clue where he picked that line up.

toasted oats

So classic McKay. ALL DAY LONG he's pulling cereal out of the pantry and saying "I wann some!"

Can't get that box open and Momma's not helpin = distressed.
The meltdown.

Ev

Yes, we've got ourselves another thumb-sucker. Love it. I'm all about it. FYI: McKay only sucks his right thumb, Evalyn only sucks her left. Maybe she'll be a leftie?
Darling boots from la Shosho.
4.5 mos. Pure joy. Just want to smooch those cheeks right off of her.

Yago man.

9/13/2011
While changing McKay's diaper, I noticed he was getting a bit of a diaper rash. So, I pull out the Desitin and McKay says, "Look Mom! Toothpaste for my bum!"

Heading downstairs with McKay to organize garage sale stuff, he stops at the top of the stairs and says, "I want to bring another toy, Mom. (to play with in the basement).... I will come back soon!"

When he woke up from his nap, I found him sitting on the end of his big boy bed with a furrowed brow (aka the Brenan brow). He says, "I feel sad.. I feel sad on my big boy bed." And then he starts laughing.

9/16/2011
I peek into McKay's room since he's been in there for over 2 hours (to see if he was still napping). I see him like this: shirtless, 'Fox in Sox' tucked under one harm, holding his blue blankie while sucking his right thumb, behind the blinds watching the rain. He even stayed there long enough for me to run downstairs and grab the camera. After I snapped this pic, he fought his way out of the blinds to tell me "I'm just watching the rain, Mom. Just watching the rain."

(yes, in desperate need of a haircut)

more of McKay

Brenan: "What is your favorite?" (intentionally leaving that an open-ended question)
McKay: "Lesha."

A few minutes later, McKay walks up to Brenan sitting on the couch with Ev and says, "I want a spanking." (just for the record, we've never spanked McKay. He clearly does not understand what a spanking actually is)

McKay: "I want to go boating and skateboarding." (Is he his father's son or what?)
